frequently asked questions

FAQ's

  • How often does a roof need to be cleaned?

Every two to five years suits most roofs, though heavily shaded ones under mature trees need it sooner. The clearest signals are dark streaks running from the ridge, moss clumps in valleys, and granules collecting in gutters below.

  • Will roof cleaning void my shingle warranty?

Not when done correctly. Shingle manufacturers recommend low-pressure methods and warn specifically against high-pressure equipment. Because we soft wash every roof, the process follows those recommendations rather than working against them, and your coverage stays exactly where it belongs.

  • Can brick and stone be pressure washed safely?

Yes, with adjusted settings. Masonry is porous, so aggressive pressure erodes mortar joints and drives moisture deep into walls. We clean brick facades, stone veneer, and chimneys at levels that lift staining without disturbing the joints holding everything together.

  • Should pavers be sealed after they are cleaned?

Sealing is what makes the cleaning last. Sealer locks joints sand in place, blocks oil and salt penetration, restores faded color, and slows weed growth between stones. Pavers must dry fully first, so both happen on separate visits.

  • How often do sealed pavers need to be resealed?

Most sealed hardscape holds four to five years before needing a refresh, depending on sun exposure, traffic, and winter salt. Once water stops beading on the surface and color starts looking flat again, schedule another application with our team.

  • What are the warning signs that gutters need cleaning?

Water spilling over edges during rain, sections sagging away from fascia, plants sprouting from troughs, staining down exterior walls, and pooling near the foundation all point toward clogs. Any single one of those warrants a call to us.

  • How often should gutters be cleaned each year?

Twice yearly handles most properties, once in spring and again in late fall after leaves drop. Homes surrounded by pines or heavy tree cover often need three or four visits. Gutter guards reduce that frequency considerably for constant fillers.

  • Does cleaning solar panels actually improve energy output?

It does. Dust, pollen, bird droppings, and hard water spotting form a film that scatters sunlight before it reaches the cells. We wash panels using deionized water and soft tools that will not scratch glass, and production recovers noticeably.

  • How long does a deck need to dry before it can be stained or sealed?

Plan on 48 to 72 hours of dry weather after washing before any coating goes down. Wood still holding moisture will not let stain penetrate, and the finish fails early. We schedule washing and coating separately so drying never gets rushed.

  • Do I need to be home while the work is being completed?

Not required for most exterior work. We need access to an outdoor water source, a clear path around the property, and any gate codes in advance. Our team walks results with you afterward, or sends photos if you are away.

  • Are the cleaning solutions safe around pets, children, and landscaping?

Products get applied at controlled dilutions and rinsed thoroughly once they finish working. We pre-wet plantings, shield sensitive areas, and rinse beds again at the end. Keeping pets and children indoors during application is a simple, temporary precaution.

  • What happens to items collected during junk removal?

Usable furniture and household goods head to donation wherever possible, recyclable material goes to the proper facility, and only what cannot be diverted reaches disposal. Sorting happens while we load, keeping surprising volume out of the landfill entirely.

  • How often should a lawn be mowed during the growing season?

Weekly through spring and early summer when growth peaks, then every other week as things slow into late summer and fall. Cutting no more than a third of blade height keeps turf healthy, so consistent scheduling matters most.

  • When is the best time of year to trim hedges and refresh mulch?

Deciduous hedges are best trimmed in late winter or early spring before new growth starts, while evergreens prefer late spring afterward. Mulch gets refreshed each spring, applied two to three inches deep and kept clear of trunks and stems.
